Daie is the head coach and is over, However the following piece is from the interview done by Mr. Habib Kashani PP, head of board of directors.
As you can see, he says Ghotbi was supposed to be the coach until the very last minute. My points isn't against Mr. Daie, my concern is with the process that IFF used to select the head coach was flawed and Mr. Kafasheeyan bears the full responsiblity.
Another point, for Daie hard core supporters this should show why there is a strong anti Daie sentiment in Iran amongst fans and many players. He seesm to get special treatment and somehow he claims he isn't connected to this regime. But events on the ground indicate something else. Can someone explain how Ghotbi's head coaching job at teh very last minutes is going to Daie?

TM is a very sensitive issue and the TM Coach must be selected with more care. When the names Rene Simoes or Clemente showed up, I had more hope, after that I really don't know what IFF is playing at.
And the ones who are harmed here are the football family of Iran.

yes. I also think this was the reason.

personally, I think THIS ( above ) is the WRONG reason to disqualify someone and ghotbi didnt deserve this. I think it's utter Naa-mardi . but then again, it is IRI we're talking about.

having said that does not mean I think ghotbi deserved the job. No.
coz there were other reasons for his disqualification. but not what REALLY happened, as bahram explained.

On Kazemian , I would have invited him myself , but I can also see enough negatives in him to prevent a call up.

I am glad Mobali is in after all those who doubted that Mobali will be out of favor due to an old incident in the league a few years back. It proves that Daei is a professional.

I agree with majid's view on the criteria being hunger.

but again, exclusion of kazemian is not explained. the guy IS hungery. he IS skilled.
and I dont think his mentality is that bad. yes, he sometimes does crib about not playing. but often, he DOES HAVE A CASE.

secondly, I dont see why Asadi was left out also. I dont think he's saturated as our more well-known stars. he hasnt shown any ego in his mannerism either.
hell, he is a SABA player. and I dont see ANY ego coming out of that bunch that may even get close to the likes of ss, pp and even sepahan !

for example, with exclusion of kaz and kia, we are left with only Kaabi as a known & tested entity for the right wing.
yes, there is sadeghi also. but the guys is totally out of form. and this DAEI shd know more than anyone else. he's his coach.
so in case kaabi doesnt perform or gets injured or red carded or ..... WHO shd take the right wing?

yes, you can always do a "patch-up" job and put anyone of jabbari, shojaei, mobaali , ... there and sort of patch up the hole.
but why settle for a patch-up when you have a player who plays in the post and shows better skills for the post?

first of all, I sincerely hope he isnt using the 4-2-3-1 coz then we are in trouble. ( or are we? maybe that's a blessing in disguise . more on this below ) becoz we have only 2 players w such characteristics: ando ( who is out of form . and boy, the guy is WAAAYYYYY OFF ) and maziar zareh ! no kazemi. no rahmati. no nekunam . means no sub for a def-mid.

which brings me to the "blessing in disguise". this means he will be forced to use one of the karimi/jabbari/mobaali/shojaei kind of players. players who are NOT def-mids. and that effectively transforms the moronic 4-2-3-1 into 4-1-4-1.
which isnt bad at all, mind you.

picking memarzadeh as third choice is utterly dumb. especially when you have Mohamadi who's been doing well for months now.
secondly, when in his own club, under the same coach, memarzadeh is the SECOND choice, why not bring daei's FIRST choice ahmadi, then?
this defies logic on ALL aspects ... it's beyond earthly reasons . hell even for this dimension !!!!!

Well....after the initial 30 players list that was announced , some of the coaching mentality is quite apparent.

Daei is going for skill, motivation and the huger of the youth rather than same ld names that come and go and hardly yield results.

It is risky , of course , but Daei;s confidence in more energetic players could very well pay for itself, else back to the same old names.

علی دایی سرمربی تیم ملی فوتبال کشورمان ابتدای هفته گذشته محمد احمد زاده، بهزاد غلامپور و امگین فیرات را به ترتیب به عنوان مربی، مربی دروازه بانها و مربی بدنساز جدید تیم ملی معرفی کرد.

سرپرست تیم ملی در خصوص آغاز تمرینات این تیم به خبرنگار مهر گفت: دور جدید تمرینات تیم ملی فوتبال کشورمان برای دیدار با کویت از فردا (جمعه) درمحل کمپ تیم های ملی آغاز می شود. طبق برنامه تنظیم شده تیم ملی فوتبال کشورمان پس ازیک هفته تمرین درتهران روز 29 اسفند ماه برای برگزاری دیدار دوستانه مقابل بحرین عازم منامه خواهد شد . این دیدار روز دوم فروردین در بحرین برگزار می شود.

تیم ملی پس از انجام این دیدار تمرینات خود را به مدت دو روز دربحرین ادامه خواهد داد و سپس روزچهارم فروردین راهی کویت خواهد شد تا روز ششم فروردین سال آینده دومین دیدار خود را درچارچوب مسابقات مقدماتی جام جهانی مقابل تیم ملی فوتبال کویت برگزار کند.
