Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Persepolis football team lost to Sanat Naft Abadan in penalty shootout in the Hazfi Cup quarter-final on Tuesday.

Sanat Naft defeated Persepolis 5-4 on penalties after the match had ended 1-1 after 120 minutes.

Farshad Ahmadzadeh scored for Persepolis in the 26th minute but Ali Abdollahzadeh equalized the match just three minutes into the second half.

In a shock move, Sanat Naft coach Faraz Kamalvand stepped down from his post at the end of the match.

Elsewhere, Esteghlal Khuzestan qualified for the semifinals after defeating Tractor Sazi 4-3 on penalties in Ahvaz.

On Monday, Khooneh Be Khooneh had qualified for the semis after defeating Gostaresh Foolad 2-0 in Amol.

Esteghlal and Iranjavan Bushehr was canceled on Monday due to air pollution.

The Hazfi Cup is the Iranian football knockout cup competition, run by the Iranian Football Federation.
