AFC – DOHA, Al Fateh take on Esteghlal Khouzestan at Thani Bin Jassim Stadium in Group B of the 2017 AFC Champions League on Tuesday with the Saudi team aiming to leapfrog their opponents into second place in Group B, while victory for the Iranians would give them an insurmountable lead on Al Fateh.
Al Fateh lost their opening game on the continent 1-0 to Esteghlal Khouzestan but have gone on to collect five points from three games to remain in the hunt for a top-two qualification spot. Two wins from two in the Saudi Pro League, meanwhile, has taken Al Fateh off the foot of the table as the side from Al Hasa appears to have hit form at the right time.
Esteghlal Khouzestan, though, began the tournament with two straight wins but a point from two games with Lekhwiya as seen them drop to second place and within striking distance of Al Fateh. Avoid defeat in Doha and they will be confident of a last 16 berth ahead of a Matchday Six meeting with Al Jazira, anything else and the Iranian side could face an uphill task.
