Tasnim – CHANGSHA, China’s newly appointed national football team coach Marcello Lippi says that they are preparing to face Iran in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification.
Group A struggler China pulled off a major upset by seeing off Korea Republic at home. With the spirited win, its first in this third round, the team moved out of the bottom and leapfroged Qatar into fifth.
China will travel to Tehran to meet group leader Iran on March 28.
“The win (against Korea Republic) keeps our hopes alive. Any result other than three points would make our campaign meaningless. There are several areas in which we should improve and take care and this was just a first step,” Lippi said.
“The time we are given is limited, and we have to work against time to prepare for the next game against Iran,” the Italian added.
