Tasnim – TEHRAN, Ali Daei was named as the new head coach of Naft Tehran football club on Tuesday.

It is while the Tehran-based club had reached an agreement with current Iran national football team manager Afshin Peyrovani on Monday.

It seems the Iranian federation’s officials didn’t let Peyrovani leave his post.

Ali Daei coached Saba Battery last season but was replaced by Samad Marfavi.

Daei, world’s all-time leading goalscorer in men’s international matches, has penned a one-year contract with Naft Tehran.

The team finished in fifth place in 2015-16 season under management of Alireza Mansourian who left the club to take charge of Esteghlal.
