Tehran Times – DOHA, Former Iran national football team captain Javad Nekounam dreams of working with Carlos Queiroz at Team Melli.
“After bidding farewell to the national games, I said that it’s an honor for me to help Team Melli. In fact there is no difference for me to help the national team as a player, as a coach or a small member of the club.
“It is a dream for a lot of players and coaches to work under Carlos Queiroz and to learn from him, I am no exception and it is a dream for me too. At the end of the season, I’ll have a meeting with Queiroz and Iran Football Federation to see what happens,” Nekounam told reporters.
Former Osasuna midfielder, who is currently playing for Al Arabi in the Qatar Stars League (QSL), has a close relation with Al Sadd captain Xavi.
“I had a close relation with Xavi since I was playing for Osasuna in Spain; we are friends even out of the football pitch. He will be Barcelona head coach in the near future and I hope I could gain experience from him,” Nekounam added.
Al Arabi is currently in the 7th place of QSL table with 31 points from 21 games while Al Sadd stands in fourth with 36 points.
