Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Iranian international defender Morteza Pouraliganji stated that playing alongside Xavi is the main reason he is going to accept Qatari side Al Sadd SC offer.
Pouraliganji, who joined Chinese Super League club Tianjin Teda in February 2015 from Naft Tehran, is currently a free agent after deciding not to renew his contract with the club.
“I am very close to sign a contract with Al Sadd SC. I received a couple of European offers, J-League and Chinese offers but I decided to join Al Sadd,” the 23-year old told reporters.
“Al Sadd is one of the top teams in Qatar Stars League while former Barcelona midfielder Xavi is playing there. when I was a child I was a Xavi fan and now his presence in Al Sadd is one the main reasons I am going to accept its offer,” he added.
Al Sadd who is currently in fourth place of QSL table with 28 points from 15 games, signed Xavi from Barcelona with a three-year contract last summer.
