Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Former Iran national football team head coach Branko Ivankovic stated that it would be a great honor for him to coach Iran in a FIFA World Cup once again.

Current Persepolis coach, who managed Iran national team during a four-year period between 2002 to 2006, also believes he is now a better coach than he was 10 years ago.

“I had fantastic four years as the coach of Iran which I won’t forget. We had very good players who were playing in big European teams but things have been changed and there are not notable Iranian players in Europe at the moment. Without a doubt, I’m now a better coach than I was 10 years ago because I have gained a lot of experience during the previous years,” Branko told Tasnim news agency.

Branko also talked about his candidacy for taking charge of Croatia football team.

“I have a very close relation with Davor Suker [current president of the Croatian Football Federation] while I have always been a candidate for Croatia coaching role since 2000 but there are a couple of things which didn’t let me to coach my country’s national team,” Branko added.

Persepolis coach then talked about his team and promised to take back 100,000 fans to the stadium.

“One of my objectives for this season is to make Azadi stadium full of the fans for Persepolis matches. I will make every effort to win the title with Persepolis this season to make our fans happy again,” the 61-year old Croatian added.
