Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Jesus Candelas’s two-year reign in charge of Iran futsal team was brought to an end on Friday when it was announced that the Spaniard will not continue his job.

Candelas replaced Ali Sanei after the poor and disappointing results at the 2012 FIFA Futsal World Cup, where Team Iran lost to Colombia 2-1 in Round of 16.

It’s believed that the 57-year-old coach has parted company with the Iranian Football Federation due to financial issues.

Under tutelage of Candelas, 10-time champion Iran finished in second place after being defeated by Japan in the 2014 AFC Futsal Championship.

Abbas Torabian, head of Iran’s futsal committee, said that several foreign and Iranian coaches have been nominated to take charge of the team.
