Tasnim – ST.POLTEN, Iran Captain Javad Nekounam achieved the milestone becoming Iran’s most capped player of all time.

The veteran midfielder surpassed Ali Daei’s 149-cap record in the match against South American football team Chile.

Iran beat Chile 2-0 in a friendly match on Thursday at St Polten’s NV Arena in Austria.

Nekounam was on target for Team Melli in the 21st minute from Andranik Teymourian’s corner.

Vahid Amiri scored Iran’s second goal in the 50th minute.
