Persepolis beat Rah Ahan to reach Hazfi quarter-finals

TehranTimes, TEHRAN – Sosha Makani saved two penalties and scored one as Persepolis defeated Rah Ahan in the round of 16 of Hazfi Cup on Sunday.

Milad Mohammadi gave Rah Ahan the lead in the 37th minute but Mohammad Nouri leveled the score for Persepolis in the 49th minute.  Two teams were leveled 1-1 after 120 minutes of play.

Costa Rican defender Michael Umana, goalkeeper Sosha Makani, Mehrdad Kafshgari and Mehdi Taromi all scored the penalty shootouts for the red giants while Makani saved Bahador Abdi and Ali Alipour penalties.

Elsewhere, Padideh edge Gostaresh Foolad 2-1 thanks to a brace from Reza Enayati. Mohammad Amin Darvishi scored in the 55th minute to give Gostresh the lead but Reza Enayati leveled the score 10 minutes later. The match finished 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes with two extra times.

Zob Ahan beat Esteghlal Khouzestan 3-2 in Ahvaz. Ghasem Dehnavi (37), Mehdi Rajabzadeh (48 pen, 90+3) scored for Zob Ahan while Meysam Majidi (75) and Roohollah Seifolahi?? (90+4) scored for Esteghlal Khouzestan. Zob Ahan will face the winner of Esteghlal and Parseh clash in the next round.

Sanat Sari defeated Peykan 2-0 with two stoppage time goals. While neither team scored until 90th minute, Amir Farhangdoost (90+1) and Vahid Enayati (90+2) gave Sanat Sari a 2-0 win. Peykan was the second Premier League team which Sanat Sari knocked out of Hazfi Cup. They will face Shahrdari Ardebil in the next round.

Tractor Sazi beat Saipa on penalties after two teams were unable to score during 120 minutes. Tabrizi based team win 3-1 on penalties to reach the quarter final of Hazfi Cup.

Gol Gohar Sirjan also edge past Naft Masjed Soleyman 4-2 on penalties after neither teams scored in normal 90 minutes and two 15-minute extra times.
