Persianfootball.com – LISBON, Iran’s national team ended their ten-day training camp with a 1-0 victory over Benfica Lisbon in a test match on Tuesday.

Benfica fielded a depleted team due to the absence of all national team players during the FIFA matchdays. However, some A team players, like former international Luisao, featured alongside some promising young players from the B team.

The goal of the day was scored by Sardar Azmoun, who headed a freekick from Andranik Teymourian into the net.

Captain Javad Nekounam was missing in Team Melli due to a cold.

Iran had already downed a full-strength Estoril side 2-0 last week, thanks to goals from Azmoun and Alireza Jahanbakhsh.

Iran will hold further trainin camps in Iran (November), South Africa (December) and Australia (January) including friendly matches against South Korea (in Iran) and possibly South Africa (in South Africa), Palestine (in Iran) and Iraq (in Australia).

Team Melli is preparing for the Asian Cup in Australia in January where Carlos Queiroz’s men will face Persian Gulf neighbours Qatar, the UAE and Bahrain in group stage.

Below comes Iran’s lineup.

First half: Haghighi – Ghafouri, Montazeri, Sadeghi, Pouladi – Teymourian, Ebrahimi – Jahanbakhsh, Rafiei, Shojaei – Azmoun

Second half: Beiranvand – Heydari, Hosseini, Beikzadeh, Hajsafi – Pouraliganji, Abdollahzadeh – Amiri, Dejagah, Ansarifard – Ghoochannejhad
