1996 versus saudi and in a proven case of corrupted ref Al Gamel (or whatever that subhuman's name was) we lost the semis to saudi cheaters!
Everyone knew we would win the damn final. Azizi's clear onside goal was diallowed, obvious penalty foul versus Estili not given. we lost in penalties to AFC and corrupt saudi money!


2004! was same as 1996 our year to win the damn thing! it even hurts to describe what happened in the semis vs China!


Who is japan???? we would have been by now 5 time asian champion., Japan 3 times, and Saudi 2 times, if it wasn't for corruption 1996 and dont know what to call 2004!

It is an interesting question to ask yourself about what would benefit the Islamic Republic the most. Success or defeat for our football team?

I did not watch the game live as I did not want to jinx the team. I just saw the highlights and I am speechless. The winner of the game is no one but the referee. Bahrain, Saudi Arabia or some sponsors might have been paying him well.

I can say I am happy I did not watch the game live otherwise it would have devasted me.

Iran out of 2 asia cups without a loss 2007 and 2015.
Iran not reach the final twice without a loss 1984 and 2004.

These stats speak for themselves that our Teams have been strong and got eliminated due to horrendous refereeing, fatigue or simply not being good penalty takers.
Iran are champions no matter what.

Maybe Iran should now follow suit (like Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan) join UEFA, playing in a corrupt Europe much better than playing in filthy Asia.

The solution is as I have said other places is to send a B team in these competitions. AFC will never allow Iran to win it.
Use these games to give expirience to our Young but prepare for world cup.
Japan is tieing UAE in 120 min the team that we topped in groupe stage. Iraq wins Iran!!

Folks do not forget 1992 where the arab ref gifted Japan an 87th offside minute goal after giving us a bogus red card earlier to allow them to advance from the group at our expense. Also in 1988 the ref disallowed a perfectly fine equalizer against the 8-0ers in the semifinals for no apparent reason. It seems like we hardly have an AC where the refs do not screw us over.
Even with the player down we fought courageously. After each goal I thought it was over but we clawed our way back into the game. So proud of this group in spite of the loss. To steal a headline from the English tabloids: 10 brave lions, one stupid boy (meaning the ref).

I dont get the hate on the referee. Pouladi is a fool for going in with his foot in the first place when he is on a yellow card. Even worse was his reaction to the push, he looked like he was hit by Mike Tyson.

The penalty they recieved was also pretty clear due to a clumsy challenge from us.

Nevertheless, we played almost an entire match with 10 men and was just a matter of inches to go through. Let's focus on that, not the referee who in my opinion was not 'scandalous' in any way.

Guys I totally agree with the fact that we got screwed over by the referee, but unfortunately Pooladi's dumbness gave Ben Williams the oppurtunity to screw us over. If he would play like a man, man up and not lay on the ground like a soosoole titish mamani for 2 minutes, nothing would've happened. (he might have gotten a red card later in the game).

We're the fans and we all know our history at the last several Asian Cups. Every frikkin time we got screwed over, so I expect that our players should be a tad smarter and realise this before they want to get a golden globe for their dramatic falling down on the ground.
