Regarding your last post: who says I would have changed shaq with KG?? Of course I woulda kept shaq but what I am saying is Kobe could have done it with KG too

Regarding the post before: when Kobe was winning with shaq, RIP was in the league but he was nowhere near as good so that doesn't prove a point. I wanna agree with you about manu but they would not have been able to win those wars against the blazers in 2000 and kings in 2002 with manu. Kobe was just too dominant on both sides of the floor and they still barely won.

Kobe could do it with ewing if the timing was right. Kobe could do it with KG. They didnt need pierce, allen and rondo, just some role players like the ones the lakers had. Hey Kobe did it with Gasol a guy who had not even won one playoff game before he came to LA

The reason Shaq won 3 with Kobe and one (well more like half) with all of his other allstar teammates was that his head and focus was always somewhere else. Kobe made SURE he was focused like the night he called him in 2AM after they were down 3-2 to the kings in the 2002 conference finals and told him that he needed him to be at the top of his game. Thats what I call true leadership.

I wouldn't use the word carry especially with the numbers kobe put up. They were the only true duo in NBA history that were equally valuable to their teams hence all the hoopla with phil and the trade and blah blah blah.

One thing I am sure of is without Kobe, shaq would not have even won ONE NBA championship with the lakers.

Since 1999 there have been 11 NBA finals. Either the lakers or the spurs have been to 10 out of the 11 of those NBA finals. the choking Dallas Mavs were the only other team that have been able to do it from the west since 1999. Coincidentally that was the same Dallas team that gave up 62 points to Kobe in 3 quarters so that should tell you how fked up their defense was. This is why I don't put too much stock in Shaq's 4th championship which by the way was mostly possible cuz alonzo mourning was doing all the damage in the middle and not shaq!
