btw congrats to TM volleyball. i remember watching them in azadi at the world championships in tehran many years back. we came 5th, not a bad accomplishment there as well.

Thanks to Yazdani Khooram former head of Volleyball federation. He is moved now to Wrestling, but he had a long term plan and now we see the friuts.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Long term planning and actually sticking to that plan ..... Now it is shown that it works.

Never in Iranian history, we had a team to become a third best in the world...
we have had individual successes, and ocational winnings in wrestleing and weight lifting..but never in this magnitude.
Just last week, in world championship of Vollyball, Iranian team, after beating Morroco,( African Champs,)and Bolgaria, and the mighty Italia, went to the quarter final, with Brazil, Italy, and the Russia......they lost 3 to one to russia, but beat Italy for the secound time, and became, thrid in the world.
Indeed, such HUGE accumplishment............

Our Nojavanan I think came first or second two years back I think. They beat or were defeated by Poland in Final. But definitly this is tougher. Congrats to our boys.

First of all, congratz to them ALL ...
Second, if you follow Volleyball and Basketball in Iran, you would realize that the teams are making huge achievements. To my opinion, this is mostly due to their respective federation and head of the federation. Yazdani Khorram had been the head of Volleyball federation for years and he also served several years as the head of Basketball federation, and he is the one who has created such an environment to grow. Kudos to him .....

Previously, he was nominated for Football also, but politically he was pushed aside.
