Except Skocic didn't inherit this team. He reversed the damages of Wilmots. Wilmots sounds more like Talebi to be fair. Took a team from CQ and made a disaster of it.

Talebi absorbed nothing. He was a yes man and had the luxury of massive talent in his side. If it wasn't for Abedzadeh heroics USA match was lost in first half. It was literally park the bus against Yugo and try not to get hammered by Germany...no tactics no plan...

Agreed. Even talebi said so but also shared he was happy it was not called...afraid game would have gotten out of control due to politics. Dude you as a coach need to fight for your team and victory. Baffling how this guy got the job.

Talebi absorbed the work that Ivic did from training camps and still performed above expectations in the 1998 world cup. We had three coaches within six months and still the team did so much better than anyone at the time expected...

All it needs is a coach with a vision and a few training camps. Next three months are critical. We don't have a great pool of players in defence or midfield but it would be a shame for us not to get to the second round in the last chance before the format changes.

I still will always respect Dragan for rescuing us in first round of world cup qualifiers, and of course everything is difficult in Iran, but the team's shape has regressed to 2009, the chances of an embarrassment in hte world cup are quite high, and it's reasonable for him to go

According to who? If you asked TM players in the beginning if they want Skocic or Branko most of them would pick Branko except CQ leftovers who also caused problems for Skocic. Let’s just say when they asked Majidi who Jahanbakhsh is he said he never heard of him… Branko would never let someone like you know who dictate his lineup

I think he’s reached his limit here, CQ would’ve told Majidi to STFU and not invited a single Esteghlal player. However, we all know the IFF won’t hire anyone who’s brave enough to demand friendlies and more attention to TM from them. They’re already looking to pocket the World Cup money with these new gang of vultures. At this point I’ll be happy if they hire someone who brings authority to the team and players will respect, Daei, Branko, Bielsa even Fatih Terim …

The federation is lietally headless [Chicken] after Azizi Khadem Fiasco and everyone in the Federation is speaking for their own interest to become the head by leveraging Red and Blue sentiment. Think about these questions before you try to bring another decent coach
    1. Is the new coach even affordable by Iran?
    2. Will he be ready to fully commit to Iran?
    3. Will the IFF have the will and power to sign such a coach?
    4. Is the coach married or related to an attorney?
You can ask and make a nice graphic with Anceloti for all I care, but it's not tonly hat Skocic has hit it's ceiling, it is Iran and IFF that has a ceiling and it is called CQ. The max you can get is CQ and CQ is not at his peak either.

Honestly, the best way forward for our football is for reactionary PP/ESES fans to be put on a leash and common sense reforms be made to our youth systems.
Make those two changes and we go from whatever mess we are now to Korea/Japan lite.

Ziyech had issues with renard too. Renard went to Europe and begged him to come back. Halilhodzic said no, too bad.
