Bolivia is a tough team just look at their home record

With Iraq playing Argentina and Saudi Arabia playing Brazil this week, I would be even happy for Bolivia or Venezuela

i dont care who iraq and saudi play, we need to improve our attack for asian cup, hence playing a team like bolivia is good, we can practice our attack playing a strong team, would mean we have to defend the whole game

One thing that i am pretty dissapointed about CQ list this Asian Cup compare to the last one is, after the WC in 2014, our Asian Cup squad saw some very young promising players such as PAG, Amiri, Sardar and few others, probably 30% of squad was changed compare to WC. This time around i feel Carlos acting a bit lazy and going with pretty much the same squad as WC(have to admit we have much more depth this time compare to the same around in 2014), but still i can't understand some of his decisions
I was really hoping he doesn't invite Masoud and Montazeri, i am kind of still Ok with Ashkan's invitation, but the excuse for not inviting Jalal was his age, even though he is probably playing his best football, then you invite Montazeri, almost the same age, and not in his best shape though!!
I can live with not inviting Alipour, because of depth in forward but honestly taking old and not being in great shape Masoud and Montazeri is just waste of two spots. At least he could have invited young Shekari to have some experience, even if you don't take him to AC, just like Azmoun before WC2014.
Anyway, if Persepolis wins ACL, it will be hard to ignore their key players: Jalal, Shoja, Ansari, Kamal, Alipour or even maybe Nemati who was fantastic as RB against Al-Sadd

You kind of answered it yourself, we have much more depth in our squad than four years ago, mixture of experience and youth, what we need to go all the way to win the Cup.

What do you mean? Y’all have EPL players like Junior Hoilett, Atiba Hutchinson, Scott Arfeild, etc.

That doesn't mean the national team is any good, or that the national team plays like Australia. As I said, Canada doesn't really have a particular style they play. The most recent games I've seen from them, Canada tends to play sloppy, weak , slow, and individualistic. Plus the Coach only has two games under his belt.

I used it as an example. If we cant play a friendly with Australia for whatever reason, there were also rumors of Canada. (we can really only play North and South American teams due to Nations League and CAF Qualifying). From these teams, the rosters of Canada and Australia actually match up quite well, they have similar level players, and in my opinion could be a friendly that replicates a bit of the aussie style (direct play, using pace and power), and is also able to set up given ok ties between to countries, and obviously large population of iranians in canada. Sorry if the example was a bit random it made more sense in my head lol.

Australia would spank Canada. Canada doesn't have a "style of football", and we can barely beat Little Caribbean Islands. Can't just assume all Anglo commonwealth countries play the same game.

This like when people just assume all Sub-Saharan African teams have the same style of play. Despite the reality that different African nations have different physical attribute and coaches from diverse backgrounds.

Why Canada? Don't understand the relevance of Canada to Australia. Other than that all very valid points.

what is unbelievable? Our federation is broke, our country is under sanctions the severity of which nobody else has ever seen, we have tremendous levels of mismanagement and corruption. Given our realities, getting bolivia as a friendly followed by trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela is perfectly believable and frankly not terrible. Also take into account, we are preparing for AC, not WC. We wont any teams similar to brazil, argentina or uruguay in AC. We need to play teams where TM has to keep possession and dominate proceedings and create many chances. We know that we can defend deep to a high level when necessary, we showed it in two world cups straight. If we can dominate and create 5-10 excellent goal scoring opportunities vs Bolivia, Venezuela and a couple more teams then Id say we are ready to dominate the likes of Korea, UAE, Saudi, Iraq, etc. If we can dominate a team like Canada Id say that puts us in a good position to dominate a team like australia.
