Lol, is that a joke? He's one of our best CMs and he's only 28 years old....he can put in a shift in 2022 as well.

He is not, actually Hajsafi is not excellent in any position(like Milad is as LB, Saeid is as DM), he can get the job done in these positions for couple matches but he is pretty much replaceable. He can't outplays many competitors in these positions and that is why he is actually was not even included in Olympiacos squad and was loaned out.

Apparently TM played a full 90 minute 11 on 11 scrimmage yesterday between themselves.

Line ups from what I saw

Whites:
Beiranvand, Moharrami, Cheshmi, Hosseini, Mohammadi, Ezatolahi, Nourollahi, Torabi, Ghoddos, Amiri, Azmoun.

Blues:
Abedzadeh, Ghafouri, Khanzadeh, Montazeri, Hajsafi/Sohrabian, Ebrahimi, Karimi/Shojaei, Jahanbakhsh, Dejagah, Taremi/Gholizadeh, Ansarifard.

I thought he was actually very good in the first two matches there. Morocco and spain attacked more through the middle though, and I think that benefitted him. He is weak 1v1 defender, but out of all our fullbacks he is the most technical and calm, hence why he often plays midfield. He has great experience, and I dont think he should be discarded. But if he is to be in the team I would rather him compete with ebrahimi for starting DM role next to Saeid, rather than displace a superior natural LB like milad.

way too calm especially Defensively, often bordering Careless and nothing special on Technical front either attacking nor defending..!!
he is extremely durable, injury avert, has great Stamina and workrate and is everywhere on MF ...... but like i said he just doesnt do anything memorable nor noteworthy while there ....!! lol

almost always chokes and has horrid performances in Vital or Deciding games ..! ie AC 1/4Final or vs Portugal @ WC..!!
SUCK ASSS and is a Huge Liability playing as a LB ..!! (for some odd reason CQ insist on using him there in key match-ups..!!)
just about the Most AVERAGE player you can have anywhere else on the pitch...!! his dead ball deliveries are utter shittt (yet again CQ insists to give him FKs left n right n center to piss away effortlessly..!!?)
he is a very versatile MFdr and well-experienced player though, i give him that... yet i have a hard time recalling an ABOVE Avg. game from him.... (had a couple of decent showing in friendlies in the run up to Russia WC, but then went back to being his old, boring Avg. during it..!!
its time to slowly phase him out...!!

I'm half way between you two Sams.

I think he is a great utility player and someone who you'd want in the squad for a long time because of his tactical flexibility and options he provides. He started playing for TM very young and he knows the setup inside and out, having been brought up with CQ's philosophy.

But I think his role is limited to being a utility player, who can fill gaps and keep the tempo going and has various other great traits as a set piece specialist.

But, for example in the world cup - having that Ezatollahi and Ebrahimi (only 2.5 years older than Ehsan) combo was a great balance in defensive midfield and then in front of them there are other players who are just more effective at playmaking than Ehsan is.

As a left back he was much worse than Milmo who just dominates that side of the pitch physically and aerially despite his size, and has the additional bonus of pace.

i really wish gucci would come out of retirement, especially with Kaveh hurt, both taremi and especially karim are terrible at finishing. gucci has that killer instinct and although sardar is back (yawn) and talented, he has shown himself to be emotionally unstable, who knows what he'll whine about this time around

i'd sub in torabi for gholi, hoesseini for abedzadeh, khanzadeh for cheshmi, moharrami for ghafouri, sohrabian for mimo, karimi for omid, and i guess taremi for sardar
