I disagree with the suggestion that he should have gotten a minute in any of the WC games by the way.

He will be truly missed. A true clutch player. Took us to the WC in 2014, and scoring the equalizer against Iraq in the AFC 2015. I am still flabbergasted that he was not subbed in against Portugal. His speed and tenacity could've really given TM a boost in the last 10-15 minutes.

Would it be too much to ask for a testimonial match for him and maybe Dejagah and Jalal Hosseini? The profits could all go to earthquake victims

Persiangodfather I usually agree with you but lets be honest in this case there is nothing Gucci can offer to Team Melli.

We already got Ghoddos, Azmoun, Kaveh Rezaei, Ansarifard and many more there truly aint no place left for him.

Absolute bullshit he didn’t play in WC. Could be because of some of his picture in Instagram with the likes of Ebi as an example. Because you know how fucked up the Islamic republic is with LA based celebrities. I hope he Re thinks it, his definitely been a joy to watch. We love you Gucci!

CQ does not owe anyone any explanation. He picked players based on his ideas and different scenarios. depending on circumstances, he did not use them. CQ has shown that he will be loyal to his trusted soldiers. Gucci needs to be happy he was in two world cup.

good luck to him, he will be 34 for the next world cup. we have many young talent that can take his place. It is his decision and we should respect it.

^ That's blowing it out of proportion I think. There's nothing in that statement that leads me to believe he is going to start sh*t with CQ or TM. So he is upset he didn't get playing time or whatever--that's understandable. But I don't think he's being a jerk about it.

This does not help anyone. Most of all himself. This kind of behaviour is in fact the root of all the side issues that have always surrounded our TM. Likes of Ali Karimi, and many others who all now have a gang of their own sworn enemies of TM to attack and inject their own venom into our football. I detest this sort of behaviour. Why can't he just simply accept that maybe you did not fit into any of the plans?
Go On let's see whose gang you are going to join?! Let's see how much you are going to contribute to the side issues and chaos of our football.
Really sick of this sort of behaviour.

    Sad to see him go.

He will always be remembered for scoring some of our most important goals in his 6 years, in the WCQ, World cup and Asian cup.

    Thank you Gucci!

Thank you Gucci for a wonderful 6 years with TM. I will always remember the goals on Qatar in 2013 and 2016 along with the goal on South Korea which is his biggest goal and one of the biggest in Iran’s history. Not to mention the goals in the Asian Cup on UAE and Iraq in the 120th minute.

As far as this WC, people need to stop complaining about him not playing. We had so many options to choose from in attack and I just think he didn’t have enough in the tank like he used to. Him retiring will now open some doors for Kaveh and other young strikers especially with Asian Cup around the corner.

Very sad. I love Gucci and thank him for everything he's done.

That being said, there was a good chance Kaveh Rezaei would've taken his spot in Asia Cup anyway and this was the better way to go out for him.

Would be a killer now, if CQ for real doesn’t continue with TM....
