My speculation is that most people who are losing their shit over this friendly result either have forgotten the run-up to 1998 and 2006 world cups or are perhaps too young to remember.

There's a lot of work to do. There were some good moments and we looked a much more solid unit with Ebrahimi in - the middle of the park changed completely. This kind of player is absolutely key in the shape of the team.

Apart from that, Beiranvand was good. JB was promising for first half, weaker second half.

CQ needs to get his emotions out of the way with certain players - especially Masoud. And I hope he figures out how to fit Ghoddos in with JB and Taremi without changing the balance of the team.
Remember we had some very good friendly results before 2006 world cup (e.g. the Bosnia game) and in the end our performance in that tournament was so anaemic.

And we had a disaster before 1998 world cup (7-1 loss against AS Roma B) yet in the actual tournament we were very positive and played well.
