Instant replay in soccer/football - needed now more than ever!

There's been talk about instant replay in soccer for some time now. With officials having to cover such a large playing field, and with the inability to see everything at any given time, instant replay is needed more than ever in soccer.

Other professional sports such as the NBA, NFL, and NCAA football/basketball, all greatly benefit from instant replay. Giving the coaching staff the ability to ask for a limited number of reviews during the match would be a huge leap in the game's acceptance as "fair play". Having instant replay capabilities will eliminate the need/incentive/desire for players to "perform" after fouls, as it will all be available for review by the referee (without the need for any embellishment).

Instant replay capabilities also allow for review of potential goals that barely cross the goal line, as a compliment to goal line technology.

Lastly, the joy of the game will be enhanced for millions of fans around the world, who clearly see the game for what it is at home (with the benefit of slow-motion replays), while the referee on the field is left to decipher the actual events based on his/her visual acuity, angle and line of sight, weather conditions, and the ensuing Oscar performances of various players.

FIFA, it is time to act. Leaving millions of fans with a bitter taste in their mouth after poor refereeing is not the way to advance the "beautiful game".
