Mbemba is the one departed that is most sorely missed ..!

He had beast like performances game in game out last season for Porto & missed less games due to injury than Pepe, but he never got half the recognition of the captain..!& they gave him shitt for faking his age & all that nonsense..!
Now they are finding out how hard it is to keep clean sheets in league & Eu ..! I suspect Sr. Pepe misses his partnership in the backline the most ..!?

According to iranlegioneri's story, Taremi wore a black wristband for Mahsa Amini:

Players Union defends Taremi: "Environment of constant persecution..."

Union of Players talks about disrespectful behavior and manifestations of hatred and violence" against the FC Porto forward.

The Players Union issued a statement this Monday in which it defends FC Porto forward Mehdi Taremi from the criticism he has been subjected to recently, condemning the "disrespectful behavior, manifestations of hatred and violence" against the Iranian.

"The environment of constant persecution that jeopardizes the professional conduct of the FC Porto player, Mehdi Taremi, is unfortunately an example of this degradation, lacking, above all, common sense on the part of several stakeholders. The Players Union reiterates its total solidarity and support for Taremi , demanding that the player, like any other, be respected. It is up to the referee teams, and only these, to make their assessment of the bids within the field of play. This acceptance, without prejudice to the comments of the fans, presupposes the respect for the game and for the protagonists, especially those with public responsibilities", reads the organisation's statement.

"Freedom of the press is a fundamental and unshakable value of our democracy. In this context, it is clear that the League's protocol, when addressing journalists, limits this freedom. Likewise, players and coaches have the right to accept or refuse to answer certain questions that are asked. Thus, instead of each party taking the exercise of their freedoms to the extreme, what is required is that they respect the scope of their intervention and have common sense", he also writes. the Union led by Joaquim Evangelista, alluding to the question of a journalist from Sport TV in the flash interview after Estoril-FC Porto (1-1), which made Sérgio Conceição leave the António Coimbra da Mota stadium in silence.

            Read the full statement:

"The Players Union condemns disrespectful behavior, expressions of hatred and violence in the 2022/2023 season and shows full support for Mehdi Taremi.

The 2022/2023 season is, unfortunately, being marked by several episodes demonstrating an environment of degradation, intolerance, disrespect and violence, which deserve the condemnation with a single voice of all agents of sport.

Not only in Portugal, but throughout Europe, attacks and manifestations of hatred in stadiums and social networks have increased, jeopardizing the good name and professional conduct of the players.

The environment of constant persecution that calls into question the professional conduct of the FC Porto player, Mehdi Taremi, is unfortunately an example of this degradation, lacking, above all, common sense on the part of several players.

The Players Union reiterates its full solidarity and support for Taremi, demanding that the player, like any other, be respected. It is up to the refereeing teams, and only these, to make their assessment of the bids within the field of play. This acceptance, without prejudice to the fans' own comments, presupposes respect for the game and the protagonists, especially those with public responsibilities.

Freedom of the press is a fundamental and unshakable value of our democracy. In this context, it is clear that the League protocol, when addressing journalists, limits this freedom. Likewise, players and coaches have the right to accept or refuse to answer certain questions that are asked of them.

Thus, instead of each of the parties taking the exercise of their freedoms to the extreme, what is required is that they respect the scope of their intervention and have common sense.

At a time when the media agenda lives on the exchange of accusations and few practical consequences, given the increase in insults, but also the continuity of unspeakable episodes in football stadiums, such as those we have seen with children and families chased from their places in the bench, because of the color of the shirt they wear, the Players' Union is available to work with sports, regulatory and violence prevention and combat entities to find solutions and promote a different discourse from the one that has only served to exacerbate the problems.

It is true that the way to combat these phenomena involves the effectiveness and speed of justice, using all the means at their disposal, but even more important is to demand that sports agents be aware that their actions and words have consequences, and can both positively and negatively inspire fans. Common sense, fair play and restraint are required."

FC Porto criticizes Sport TV journalist: "Ridiculous question to Taremi"

Through the newsletter "Dragões Diário", the blue and white team launched harsh criticism of journalist Tiago Peres Costa, due to a question put to Mehdi Taremi in the quick interviews area, after the draw with Estoril (1-1).

FC Porto launched this Sunday harsh criticism towards Tiago Peres Costa, a journalist from Sport TV who questioned Mehdi Taremi about an alleged simulation against Atlético de Madrid, in the Champions League, after a draw recorded at Estoril (1 -1).

The moment ended up leading to Sérgio Conceição, in the form of a protest, not making post-match statements to the press.

"The first team's week was difficult and it didn't end as expected: the national champions drew 1-1 at Estoril yesterday, in another match in which there was almost no time to play. Unfortunately, we don't know what Sérgio Conceição thinks about this game, as the coach did not appear in the flash interview in protest with a ridiculous question posed moments before to Taremi. Extending the campaign against the Iranian forward that has been promoted by the Lisbon press, the Sport TV reporter asked him to nonsense about alleged simulations in previous games", can be read in this Sunday's edition of the "Dragões Diário" newsletter.

"The following comment - "This was the question that had to be asked" - confirms the lack of innocence of a question that had nothing to do with yesterday's game and which, admittedly, was based on what he said about Taremi . A shame carried out by Tiago Peres Costa, who managed the feat of the content of the question being even worse than the English with which it was put", complete the blues and whites.

Pinto da Costa (FC Porto president) opens the book using his 40 years of experience to deal with internal/external enemies:

"In the last four months we have won the three main national competitions. We are, therefore, a target to be beaten by the same as always. The infamous Lisbon media campaign against Taremi is a manifestation of that. "When we win, our enemies react and intensify the fights against us. I could go back more than 40 years and remember how they took our third championship in 1980, after the bi that broke 19 years of fasting. But I don't need to go that far."

Huge match vs Braga on Friday (1:15 pm pacific), just wish it wasn't so early after an international break. Braga is currently ahead of Porto in the table.
