Iran will win vs young inexperianced usa, that is 100 % players chance to be legends like 1998 team, no motivation needed more.
but to win vs wales, and have a chance vs engilis, we need better coach, better camps, more time etc..

no other country does preparation like USA, they are expert planners. they even got the best/preferred hotel for their team over germany national team. they have every right to be confident, because they generally overperform at the world cup. 2018 was rare where they dont qualify.

one important thing to note, is that we are playing USA third. so it will be a high pressure game so yes its true they may feel the pressure but IMO after 2 games and a week in Qatar they will be feeling a bit more comfortable. generally usa teams have good sports therapist prep. our biggest concern is after 2 games can we match up vs usa? they have the best fitness. the key to win vs usa is CBs, who will be zimmermans partner? and can we expose them on a good counter attack?

We normally do not cope well in the third game.

Of course if we are behind them in points in the last game, they will have the advantage of waiting for us to open up to attack.

Their midfield 3 are rapid especially Yunus Musah and McKennie. If we are going to counter we have a small window to isolate our forwards vs Zimmerman or their other CB. Unfortunately for them their fastest CB tore his ACL and will likely miss the WC.

Given the strengths and weaknesses of the US team. I would have liked to see a narrow Iran due to the lack of a US target man. The more congested the field is for Pulisic and Reyna the better. If the US attack gets reduced to the wings and forces their wingbacis like Yedlin or Dest to push up it opens more space for counters.

Regardless we need a great performance by whoever our midfield is that game.
