He may have fallen out of the starting lineup (even if temporary). Back to back benching, and he was taken out at halftime of the cup game previously.

I guess scoring in 3 straight league matches doesn't warrant a starting position.

I see nothing wrong with rotating players...even more in teams that feature lots of NT Players that on top of League,CL,Cup have to travel and play for their NT.

I wish, but no way Porto lets him go for less than 16 Mil.

I'm dreaming that it's AM to replace Suarez

some of their other starters are in a similar spot but aren't being "rotated".

This is something to consider as well. The minutes he has played. They are just planning for the long haul, especially now that they have a decent cushion vs. Sporting Lisbon in the standings.

SC doesn't rotate. He has a preferred lineup and he typically sticks to it. Only time he makes changes is to account for injuries. Mehdi will also miss next weekend's league game because of TM duty...

Are you predicting this or have you heard this somewhere? $12 million seems a lot for broke Juve who couldn’t even drop $5 million to get Sardar.

I dont think any have played as much as mehdi. Also look at the distance the guy covers per game. From performance standpoint it wouldnt make sense to "bench" him, and from his own standpoint he seems quite relaxed and performing well whenever he gets on the pitch so doesnt seem to be a huge issue.

Only guy with similar buildup of mins to him is Diaz really. The rest have been injured/rotated at various times this season.

speculting in that it may also be that sc though his goal drought had to do with him being used to many minutes so that he wasnt fresh so he is giving him less minutes before tm camt and few games after that, to not wear him out now.

is he being benched because of his performance or standing in the team or for some tactical or player rest reason? as fans we'll never know...hopefully mehdi does so that he has more peace of mind than we do.

being a pro footballer is such a mind f***. a constant fight with your own teammates to stay in the squad, avoid injuries, etc.

you hear all these criticisms coming out of afcon about mahrez and salah not going 100% for their national teams. i remember we used to heave the same criticisms at hashemian and even mahdavikia. but can you really blame them? incredibly difficult to maintain your starting spot and form at a top european club as is (obviously not counting salah/mahrez here since they're fixed superstars).

                          no just prediction.

i thought since they wanted to pay 35 mil + kulusevski for vlahovic and that may not go through. they have some cash, mehdi would be a bargain. but he has longer contract so they cant offer 5 mil. plus kulo might be ok on the flank if diaz leaves. diaz is offcource 100 times better than kulo but still he could fit in ok.

Luis Diaz and Mehdi Taremi are by far the most important members of Porto, so it cannot be a performance thing. The man has scored three goals in a row lol

I really think this is just Sérgio Conceição resting him. F.C. Famalicão are a bottom-dwelling team, so no risk really.

Plus, aren't we happy that Mehdi is getting rest before Thursday's game?

                              So will Diaz.

Lol, we were debating when to sub him out before the lineup. Now we can debate when to sub him in =) He's their star, nothing to get too excited about against a bottom ranked team and before the international break.
