Guys it's really simple, Branko Ivankovic literally had the most talented team ever (maybe 2nd best depending on your opinion of the 98 team). The likes of Karimi, Mahdavikia, Daei, Nekoonam, Teymourian, Zandi , Hashemian at their primes etc. His result: got knocked out by China in the asian cup and managed one measly point in the WC, in arguably a MUCH EASIER group than we just had!

The Branko effect for TM.

- SPINELESSNESS: Sticking with one goalkeeper (Mirzapour) who was error-prone, and not even giving a chance to test other alternatives, and there were a few (contrast with CQ). Not altering his tactics and game plan, and keeping with the same formations/line-ups for every damn game. He just didn't want to experiment and try different players, he didn't like any chance. We had a series of very feeble performances in the 2005-early 2006 period but NOTHING was changed after them, and he had a lot more new talent at his disposal than his predecessors (remember poor Pourheidari who had a midfield of Fekri, Navazi, Halali to pick from)

- OUTSIDE INFLUENCE: Branko let himself be influenced too much by player agents such as Reza Fazeli who was in the TM camp for the World Cup, and we all know that it affected the team spirit. He also let Daei dictate matters far too much in terms of team selection.

- TEAM SPIRIT: Our team spirit was the worst for WC06 when players were even refusing to pass to each other, let alone speaking with each other (contrast with CQ and the tight-knit unit he has built)

- TACTICAL NONSENSE: After finally bringing Bayern Munich's Hashemian back into the fold, he pushed him out to the wing (absolute no man's land) to accommodate a stagnant Ali Daei, who was playing 90 minutes for every game, not even subbed out for young strikers to get a chance to get some game time.

- TROLLING: Bringing Khatibi back to TM, starting him and Enayati. Khatibi was a constant source of frustration, the worst finisher we have ever had internationally, how he had so many caps no one can explain (well, apart from Branko and Khatibi's agent at the time Fazeli probably).

- POOR TEAM SELECTION: When we had more talented players, I never understood why Branko picked Badavi, Alavi, Kameli Mofrad, Khatibi, Sattar Zare. He had a favoured group of players who he stuck with, who were worse than a number of their peers in IPL.

- OGHDEH - Falling out with his prized player (Mobali) when the latter refused to move to Dynamo Zagreb in 2005. At the time he was the only two-footed playmaker apart from Karimi and he was player of the year in IPL at the age of 21. He was just dropped after Branko's lajbaazi.

- STIFLING DEVELOPMENT - We had, at the time, arguably our brightest crop of aged 18-22 youngsters who all looked very talented (Kazemian, Mobali, Borhani). They weren't given enough playing time internationally to develop and ended up dwindling, as the coach just kept playing the same people for 90 minutes regardless of how they performed (contrast with CQ)

take deep breathes... The "prime" was not reflecting all the players. Daei was at the very end of his career. The prime was mostly for Karimi, Nekoonam, Mahdavikia, Zandi, Hashemian.

Definitely not. Yet Branko used him as striker in WC 06 and other matches over Hash, which led to the stagnation of Iran's potential attack.

The problem with Bronko is that when he was in charge of TM, he was fighting the same fights as CQ. Now he does not want to help TM, he should know better, he was there himself and had the same issues. He is very selfish. we can't forget the debacle of WC 2006 and like wuzz never came to iran and left. He had no balls to standup and discipline the team from Daei to Karimi. All the sudden he is the "professor"!!
Both CQ and Bronko have not been in iran about the same time. Look at the players CQ has produced vs what bronko has done.
Bronko inherited golden generation!! CQ is building the next generation.
When Bronko left, he legacy was gone with him, CQ legacy will be seen for at least 5-8 years after he leaves.

If I may...
My take on the situation is that Branko is competent but he is willing to "kenar biad" with his iranian entourage while CQ, Mr jazabeh, is more at ease with telling people to go to hell.He's not interested in talented players if they can't collaborate, maintain harmony within the group.
Branko was dealing with too many egos, he was also sharing power with Ali Daie from what I remember.

Also don't think Branko is at war with CQ. Court system, dalals and press are making the Ash reshteh.

I don't know why we are still comparing CQ and Branko... One has managed the likes of Real Madrid, Portugal and was assistant to Sir Alex at Man U compared to someone who manages PP, several Arab teams, and short term Croatia NT. The comparision is not even close and if anyone thinks Branko is as good or close to good as CQ, needs to immediately delete their account and never return again..

Satar Zareh? He was way too erratic. Still unlucky he got injured just prior to WC06 on his richest vein of form but he made far too many mistakes for much of his career.

Literally your team’s manager Ghalenoei taking a hit at CQ saying they should give Schaefer one of those contracts they do for CQ on live television.

Just watched Galenoei’s post-match interview, it baffles me how in every single interview he has to bring up CQ to the table. Same goes to Karimi, Mayeli kohan and Co.
