Why the hell does it matter if we play a team that we might be drawn with already? I simply don't get this logic.

First of all, friendlies are played at much lower intensity than WC matches...it's time to tinker and experiment.....the game we will play in friendly vs. Panama (hypothetically) will look nothing like the game it will actually be in the world cup finals. Do you guys seriously think all other 31 teams in WC won't know how playing style and tactics?

One advantage of playing WC-qualified teams is, they actually care about these friendlies as it's preparation for them too. Teams who haven't qualified just won't give us the same test.

England is playing Brazil next month....do you honestly think they would cancel their friendly if they found out that they'll be in the same group in the WC? so many other examples of that across the globe.

If we miss November friendlies (and instead play shitty teams), we'll only have one window of friendly matches in late March. (maximum 1 game)....and of course then the 2 weeks before World Cup where everyone usually plays everyone.

I am just going by what I think CQ's rationale is. Do you think he will want these friendlies? Based on the last 6 years following his coaching of TM, he will not want to play an already qualified opponent. I'm all for this gung ho, let's beat Germany and England and Mexico in friendlies, guys! But almost all professional teams already booked their friendlies months ago, and any team that still has these times available is likely as incompetent as our IFF and will end up in cancellation. We should go after friendlies we are sure we can secure, and ones CQ actually wants to play.

Based on this, we are very limited. Some of your expectations for friendlies are ridiculous to be honest. All of you want this team or that team, and then we get Guatemala or another realistic team and you cry. A lot of those teams either aren't available or will not be able to play us. Panama will be in demand from a lot of teams too. How do we know they will accept our friendly proposal?

Essentially, don't expect a great friendly in November. Set your sights on something realistic based on the teams CQ likes to play against, then you won't be disappointed when its announced.

So if that is the case , then we can pick teams from Pot 3 for the November friendlies, since there will be no chance that we will get grouped with them. Right !!??

Which of them have open schedules? Also, how many teams do we have confirmed in pot 3? A lot of fluidity since not all teams have qualified.

You guys are forgetting a very important factor about playing a non-WC qualified team - they won't play their best team. These teams will be disappointed in missing the WC, and will look to test new/young talent in friendlies.

However, playing against qualified teams that are also preparing for the World Cup - you will play against top talent and have better quality friendlies.
We are currently witnessing a revolution in Iranian football. Team Melli has never been stronger than it is today, and we will only get better.

So it is Macedonia?? : (

We saw in & against Russia how badly we need good quality friendlies to get better.
Iran deserves better, TM deserves better.

First, IFF should only search friendlies if CQ gets his sh1t together and search depth for his starting 11. Wtf waste money and time to play amiri, hajisafi at LB etc.. when you know since centuries they arent good enough at wc and we need depth and alternatives and depth for GK, CB, LB, CDM etc...
I guess asking CQ to stop snubbing top friendlies (I am still disgusted by croatia friendly cancellation last year) is too much to ask.

Anyways, we should go for these friendlies for november : bosnia, serbia, austria, slovakia, slovenia.

To compensate lack of fifa dates, be smart and organize two friendlies in late december against catalonia and basque country (see what tunisia did last year)
