In 2014 and 2010 there were 5 teams in each group and 16 points was
enough to top the group with Iran. This year we have 6 teams in each
group and 2 more games per team so I say 20 is enough to qualify if
    not win the group.

It is quite important to beat Qatar in March, If not we will more then likely be 3rd place
      WE ARE THE UNDER DOGS

I say if we beat China, Syria and Uzbekistan at home and get a single point from
the 2 away matches we can book our tickets to Russia.

There is no room for complacency.

Two games in March - 23rd and 28th, vs Qatar and China that could decide our fate.

Two losses, we are very much screwed, even a third place finish would be a reach.

One loss, one draw, similar situation to the above.

Two draws, still in it, but it is going to be extremely difficult to get one of the two spots.

One win, one loss, not ideal, but still in the hunt, will have to bank on other teams results.

One draw, One win, ideal situation, keeps us in the hunt and in a prime position to qualify.

Two wins, pack your bags and get your tickets to Russia.

As you can see, we cannot afford any mishap. Our boys should be fully focused.

We just need to win our home matches and we will be on 20 points, which should suffice for automatic qualification.

But of course we are going to beat Qatar in Qatar too, so that means 23 points.

I will be generous to Korea and say that we aren't gonna take points from them in Seoul (but we actually will).

I really don't like all this talk about tying Qatar away. If we can convincingly beat the Uzbeks away there is no reason not to beat Qatar away too.

^ If our players are in form and finish their chances we will certainly take the 3 points in Doha, no doubts

We have to beat everybody. Not just because we need the points, but because we can and we should.
We ARE a better team than we were 4 years ago.

                  Bring them on!

14 points right now (Plus: best goal difference)
                      Still left:
                      China (home)
                      Uzbekistan (home)
                      South Korea (away)
                      Syria (home)
                      Worst case scenarios:
South Korea and Uzbekistan still have a game against each other, so if
                      - SK wins all its 4 games (22 points) and UZB wins the other three (18 points) and we lose both games against them -> we still have two games left out of which we need one win and one draw to become second
                      - UZB wins all its 4 games (21 points) and SK wins the other three (19 points) and we lose both games against them -> we still have two games left out of which we need two wins to become second.
                      - one of the two scenarios before and we lose all the other games too: let's assume Syria loses against UZB and SK but wins against China and Iran -> they have 14 points and we would be on par with them (then direct comparison or goal difference is important)
So we could still even becom fourth.
                      My prediction:
China is out more or less, we play them at home => win +3 (17 points)
SK, away, we are going to lose => still 17 points
About Uzbekistan and Syria I am pretty unsure, I would say 3 or 4 points out of the two games.
=> 21 or 22 points in the end. That will at least guarantee the second place.

If we beat China and Uzbekistan in our next 2 games we will be 100% qualified, we can send Kia FC to play against Korea and Syria )))

                            middle case scenario:

Matchday 7: We beat China, both Korea and Uzbekistan win
                            Iran 17
                            Korea 13
                            Uzbekistan 12

Matchday 8: We draw Uzbekistan, Korea beats Qatar
                            Iran 18
                            Korea 16
                            Uzbekistan 13

Matchday 9: We lost to Korea, Uzbekistan beats China
                            Korea 19
                            Iran 18
                            Uzbekistan 16

Which means, last match day, even if Uzbekistan beats Korea, we will most likely only need a draw at home to Syria to qualify due to our better GD.

Does anyone know if it's gonna be GD or H-2-H in terms of same points ?
