Yahoo – Striker Mehdi Taremi admits there have been high expectations for him at Inter Milan, but says he\u2019s struggled with physical problems.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 32-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews<\/strong><\/a>, ahead of today\u2019s Champions League clash with Porto.<\/p>\n

Striker Mehdi Taremi<\/strong><\/a> joined Inter Milan last summer. He arrived on a free transfer from Porto.<\/p>\n

Despite the fact that Inter did not pay a fee to sign Taremi, the Iranian was seen as a real transfer coup for the Nerazzurri.<\/p>\n

Taremi had established himself as a Champions League-level striker across four seasons at Porto.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the feeling was that the Iran international would be the right player to bolster Inter\u2019s attacking depth. And maybe even push Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram for a starting berth.<\/p>\n

However, that\u2019s not really how it\u2019s worked out so far.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo tell the truth, in my opinion I\u2019ve had several physical problems so far,\u201d Mehdi Taremi<\/strong><\/a> said of his underwhelming form at Inter to date.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had to play with painkillers,\u201d the 32-year-old admitted.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know that the fans expected a lot more,\u201d Taremi further admitted.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I\u2019ll try to do better.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to talk about the issues I\u2019ve had,\u201d said the former Porto striker. \u201cBut when you\u2019re in pain, it\u2019s hard to play well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll give my best from now until the end of the season. And I\u2019ll try to live up to the fans\u2019 expectations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Taremi said that Inter \u201chave to be competitive\u201d this evening against Feyenoord. \u201cThe entire team has to play together.\u201d<\/p>\n
