{"id":40085,"date":"2020-08-22T09:18:06","date_gmt":"2020-08-22T16:18:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.persianfootball.com\/news\/?p=40085"},"modified":"2020-08-22T09:18:06","modified_gmt":"2020-08-22T16:18:06","slug":"hazfi-cup-tehran-derby-to-be-held-as-planned","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.persianfootball.com\/news\/2020\/08\/22\/hazfi-cup-tehran-derby-to-be-held-as-planned\/","title":{"rendered":"Hazfi Cup: Tehran derby to be held as planned"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Tehran Times &#8211; TEHRAN, <strong>The Tehran derby, between Esteghlal and Persepolis, in the Hazfi Cup semifinals, will be held on Aug. 26 as it was already scheduled.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amir Hossein Roshanak, Hazfi Cup\u2019s chief executive, revealed that both clubs had asked the Iran Football League Organization to postpone the upcoming derby but their request was rejected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEsteghlal and Persepolis sent a letter to the league organization asking to postpone the game in the Hazfi Cup semis, but this request was not met,\u201d Roshanak said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further, the official in charge of the Hazfi Cup competitions stated the reason behind the two Tehran giants wanted to play the game in a future time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEsteghlal and Persepolis, in their letters, requested the postponement of the derby due to extra pressure on the players in the longest ever season of the Iran Professional League (IPL) due to the coronavirus pandemic, and also because of upcoming matches at the group stage of the AFC&nbsp; Champions League,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two archrivals will face on Wednesday in Tehran\u2019s Azadi Stadium behind closed doors.
