{"id":38640,"date":"2020-02-09T14:43:50","date_gmt":"2020-02-09T22:43:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.persianfootball.com\/news\/?p=38640"},"modified":"2020-02-09T14:43:52","modified_gmt":"2020-02-09T22:43:52","slug":"iranian-teams-still-uncertain-about-their-hosting-rights-at-acl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.persianfootball.com\/news\/2020\/02\/09\/iranian-teams-still-uncertain-about-their-hosting-rights-at-acl\/","title":{"rendered":"Iranian teams still uncertain about their hosting rights at ACL"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tehran Times &#8211; TEHRAN, <strong>According to the latest 2020 AFC Champions League schedule that has been released in the AFC Magazine, the place of home matches of the Iranian clubs at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) elite club competition this season is still uncertain.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On January 23, the General Managers of the\n four clubs representing Iran at the 2020 AFC Champions League &#8211; namely \nPersepolis, Esteghlal, Sepahan, and Shahr Khodro &#8211; along with Mehdi \nAlinejhad, Deputy Minister of Sport and Youth, and Ibrahim Shakouri, \nActing Secretary General of The Football Federation of the Islamic \nRepublic of Iran (FFIRI), met with AFC Secretary General Dato &#8216;Windsor \nJohn at the Asian Football Confederation&#8217;s headquarters in Malaysia to \nchange the AFC&#8217;s decision to move matches out of Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The governing body of soccer in Asia cited\n \u201csecurity concerns\u201d in explaining why the Iranian sides were denied \ntheir hosting rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the Iranians&#8217; appeal against the\n decision, the AFC suggested that home group-stage matches on matchday \none, two and three involving Iranian clubs would be switched to away \nfixtures \u201cto allow time to reassess the security concerns in the \ncountry\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This vote again prompted an objection from\n the Iranian teams and the managers of the clubs decided to meet AFC \nsenior officials.
