ESPNFC – BREMEN, Werder Bremen have parted ways with head coach Alexander Nouri after failing to win any of their opening 10 Bundesliga matches this season.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The decision to sack Nouri, who had been in charge just over 13 months, was announced on Monday morning.<\/p>\n

The club’s under-23 coach Florian Kohlfeldt, 35, is set to take charge for the away match at Frankfurt on Friday.<\/p>\n

“Alex was tasked with a very demanding challenge last season, and successfully mastered it. We’d like to thank him for that,” Bremen CEO Frank Baumann said in a statement published on the club’s official website. “He has what it takes to be a successful coach. I am convinced that he will continue on his path elsewhere.”<\/p>\n

After a long but successful battle against relegation last season, Bremen remained without a win in their first 10 Bundesliga games this term. Following Sunday’s 3-0 home defeat to Augsburg, the club have five points, and currently sit in the relegation zone only ahead of Cologne.<\/p>\n

Bremen have only scored three goals this season, but have also just conceded 12, the same as third-placed RB Leipzig.<\/p>\n

Their last Bundesliga win came on April 29, when on match day 31 of the 2016-17 season they beat Hertha Berlin 2-0 at the Weserstadion.<\/p>\n

Nouri is the third Bundesliga coach to be sacked this term after Andries Jonker at Wolfsburg and Carlo Ancelotti at Bayern Munich.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
