Interviewed by\u00a0Sputnik, football fans from\u00a0across Iran said how happy and proud they feel about\u00a0their team. They also said that no Western threats would prevent them from\u00a0coming to\u00a0Russia to\u00a0root for\u00a0their national squad.They said that Russia fully deserves the honor of\u00a0hosting football\u2019s premier event, that sport and politics are entirely different things, and that they are sure that Russia will provide maximum security guarantees for\u00a0both the participants and guests of the 2018 World Cup<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pouria from\u00a0Lorestan: \u201cI\u2019m happy that the Iranian team will be going to\u00a0the 2018 World Cup in\u00a0Russia, which is our neighbor. I\u2019m sure to\u00a0go there to\u00a0support our national squad. I\u2019m not afraid of\u00a0going to\u00a0Moscow or any other city in\u00a0Russia.\u201d<\/p>\n

Iranian fans never listen to\u00a0the lies some countries are telling [about the 2018 World Cup in\u00a0Russia]. The only thing that bothers us is the high cost of\u00a0our stay in\u00a0Russia. Still, with\u00a0the financial support we\u2019ve been getting from\u00a0the\u00a0 Football Federation of\u00a0the Islamic Republic of\u00a0Iran and special offers from\u00a0Russia, we hope that many Iranians will be able to\u00a0come to\u00a0Russia,\u201d Abbas Ismail Beigi said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a short message to\u00a0those who are demonizing Russia: if you don\u2019t go to\u00a0the World Cup, Iranian fans will fill up\u00a0all the stadiums there are in\u00a0Russia,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The BBC documentary \u201cRussia\u2019s Hooligan Army\u201d <\/a>aired in\u00a0February; it falsified information to\u00a0assert that Russian football fans plan to\u00a0stir up\u00a0trouble for\u00a0English supporters during\u00a0the 2018 World Cup in\u00a0Russia.<\/p>\n
