{"id":26153,"date":"2016-09-26T02:17:44","date_gmt":"2016-09-26T09:17:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.persianfootball.com\/news\/?p=26153"},"modified":"2016-09-26T02:18:28","modified_gmt":"2016-09-26T09:18:28","slug":"chamanian-hails-irans-superb-second-half-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.persianfootball.com\/news\/2016\/09\/26\/chamanian-hails-irans-superb-second-half-performance\/","title":{"rendered":"Chamanian hails Iran&#8217;s superb second-half performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rtejustify\">The AFC &#8211; Goa, <strong>Coach Abbas Chamanian hailed Islamic Republic of Iran\u2019s second-half performance as his side booked their place in the AFC U-16 Championship India 2016 semi-finals with a 5-0 quarter-final victory over Vietnam\u00a0on Sunday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-art-full-text field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden in-tfull\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">Allahyar Sayyad gave Iran the lead just before the 30-minute mark at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, before Mohammad Ghaderi added a second shortly after the restart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">Substitute Alireza Asadabadi and Amir Khodamoradi notched further goals and Sayyad\u2019s second of the afternoon rounded off the scoring as Iran progressed to the last four and with it secured their passage to the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">\u201cVietnam were the better team in the first 20 minutes, forced us back and had chances to score, but after that we began to control the game,\u201d said Chamanian.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">\u201cThe first goal for us was very important, but after the substitution at half-time we were able to put on a much better performance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">\u201cWe identified our players after the 2014 tournament in Thailand and we have worked hard to get here. We are very, very happy with this result.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">Iran began the continental tournament with a thrilling 3-2 win over Saudi Arabia before a 1-1 draw with United Arab Emirates was followed by a 3-0 scoreline over India as Chamanian\u2019s team ousted the hosts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">The Iranians now return to the semi-finals for the first time since 2012 after penalty shootout elimination at the hands of eventual winners DPR Korea in 2014.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">\u201cWhen we came to India our first goal was to reach the semi-finals and qualify for the World Cup,\u201d added Chamanian.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">\u201cToday everyone worked very hard for the result. After that our formation didn\u2019t stick and we made some mistakes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">After a 7-0 opening-day drubbing at the hands of Japan, Vietnam twice fought back from behind to claim 3-2 and 3-1 scorelines against Australia and Kyrgyzstan respectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">But the Southeast Asians were unable to pull off yet another comeback victory as Iran proved too strong in the second half.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">\u201cWe came back before but Iran are a completely different opponent, much stronger than Australia and Kyrgyzstan, so we couldn\u2019t do it again. When the second goal went in our spirit went down,\u201d added The Nam.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">\u201cThe biggest target from this tournament was to gain experience.
