Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Iran national football team and Persepolis striker Homayoun Behzadi was laid to rest on Monday. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Family and friends gathered in Tehran’s Behesht-e Zahra cemetery to say their final goodbyes to the legend. <\/p>\n

The funeral was attended by several officials, including Iranian Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mahmoud Goudarzi, former Iran and Persepolis coach Ali Parvi, world’s all-time leading goalscorer in men’s international matches Ali Daei and Bayern Munich and Persepolis midfielder Ali Karimi. <\/p>\n

Behzadi started his playing career at Shahin in 1958 and joined Paykan after seven years. <\/p>\n

In 1968, Behzadi joined Persepolis and announced his retirement in Tehran based club in 1975. <\/p>\n

Behzadi was named as one of the members of Persepolis Hall of Fame and the club thanked him for his great performance during his senior career at the popular club. <\/p>\n

He was named as one of the twelve great players of Persepolis in the 1970s. <\/p>\n

Behzadi won the Asian Nations Cup with Iran football team in 1968 and 1972. <\/p>\n

He won 35 caps for Team Iran and scored 13 goals. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
