PFDC - WIGAN, Andranik Teymourian was the hero of the day scoring two goals to keep Bolton alive for a place in the UEFA Champions League.
The Iran international was starting only his second league match and responded to Big Sam’s call with style in the crucial local derby in a 3-1 victory over Wigan.
Emile Hemskey had given the hosts the lead on the half-hour at the JJB Stadium, but Nicolas Anelka equalised just before the break, completing a good play from Diouf.
Bolton built on the goal as they came out improved after the restart. The visitors eventually took the lead on minute 68 with Andranik’s first goal in the Premiership.
Diouf brilliantly set up the goal with an incisive pass to the Iranian who finished it coolly, sliding the ball underneath the goalkeeper.
The 24-year-old scored his second goal of the match five minutes later, a cross from Kevin Davies found Teymourian in an unmarked position at the far post, the former Abumoslem man combined power and precision with a header leaving no chance to the goalkeeper.
Big Sam praised the player of the match after the game.
"We have found a little diamond who is progressing nicely. The clinical finishing he showed today was the difference between the two sides in the end, and they were two great finishes.
For the first, most players would have taken a touch, but he didn't. He hit it first time and it was past the keeper before he could get down.
"Then he popped up at the far post on a late run completely unmarked, and I didn't know he could head the ball, but he showed me then he can do that" added the trainer.
Bolton will meet Everton on Monday for an important encounter as both sides chase European football next season.
