PFDC - DORTMUND, Ali Karimi scored his second Bundesliga goal of the season in Bayern's 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the last Bundesliga match before the winter break.
After a weak first half performance by both Bayern and Karimi, the 27-year-old playmaker broke the deadlock with a beautiful goal after 52 minutes. Pizzaro backheeld the ball to Karimi, who, facing two defenders, created himself space with a good move and finished with a precise rightfooted shot from the edge of the box. The Team Melli player had initiated the scene by winning a duel in the air in midfield himself.
Bayern, with a much improved Karimi in second half who was subbed out two minutes from time, added a second goal in minute 73, when Pizarro converted a pass from Ze Roberto from tight angle. Borussia Dortmund's 1-2 six minutes later, when Kringe headed a cross from Sahin into goal, however, came too late. In injury time, Dortmund's youngster Saka was suspended for a foul as last man.
FC Bayern now lead seven points ahead of Hamburg, who, however, have got one game in hand.
While Fereydoon Zandi did not come into play in Kaiserslautern's 3-2 victory over Wolfsburg, Vahid Hashemian played the full 90 minutes in Hannover's goalless draw against Leverkusen. The Iranian striker had his biggest oportunity after 31 minutes, when he vollied the ball on goal from close range but was denied by goalkeeper Butt.
Already on Friday, Moharram Navidkia did not play, as a late goal from substitute Grote gave Bochum a 1-0 win over Unterhaching.
Second placed Hamburg will face third placed Bremen on Sunday.
