{"id":38730,"date":"2020-02-23T18:48:09","date_gmt":"2020-02-24T02:48:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.persianfootball.com\/news\/?p=38730"},"modified":"2020-02-23T18:48:10","modified_gmt":"2020-02-24T02:48:10","slug":"sports-events-suspended-in-iran-due-to-coronavirus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.persianfootball.com\/news\/2020\/02\/23\/sports-events-suspended-in-iran-due-to-coronavirus\/","title":{"rendered":"Sports events suspended in Iran due to coronavirus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tehran Times &#8211; TEHRAN, <strong>Authorities in Iran  have suspended all sports competitions except football matches in the  next 10 days due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\n alarm of growing coronavirus cases in Iran has seen sports matches \ncalled off for 10 days from Monday, although football matches are not \nincluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Iran Sports Medicine Federation formed an \nemergency committee to deal with coronavirus in sports following a \nspecial order by Ministry of Sport and Youth Masoud Soltanifar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The committee had already announced on \nSaturday that all sports events in Iran had been called off but on \nSunday it changed the decision and announced that football matches would\n be held during this period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then the Iran Football League Organization\n released a statement announcing that all the football and futsal \nmatches will be held without spectators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Iranian officials Saturday reported a \nsixth death from the new virus that emerged in China. The governor of \nMarkazi Province told the IRNA that tests of a patient who recently died\n in the central city of Arak were positive for the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The decision of holding football matches \nwithout spectators prompted objections from some Iran Professional \nLeague (IPL) teams, namely Sepahan and Shahr Khodro who host Persepolis \nand Naft Masjed Soleyman respectively on Sunday.
