AFC - DPR KOREA, DPR Korea are offering cash, cars and houses to motivate its players to beat Asian champions Japan on February 9 of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
Ri Hyon who is DPR Korea’s sports guidance commission vice secretariat director, said on Kyodo News via AFP that they are sure to win and are also strongly motivated to defeat Japan.
He also added that Pyongyang has taken a strong interest in the development of football with a wide view and introduced new methods of practice that fit the physical conditions of the Koreans.
Players will be given huge amount of cash, latest model of houses and high-class cars according tot heir achievements.
The DPR team is in China for a training camp at the moment and have included to ethnic North Koreans who ply their trade in the Asia’s most popular league, the J-League.
DPR Korea was the first Asian team to reach a World Cup quarterfinal, defeating Italy en route to the quarters in the 1966 FIFA World Cup. Since failing to qualify for the 1994 FIFA World Cup, they DPR authorities have confined the team for 10 years of intense training.
