ASIA ’S BEST GOAL SCORERS The International Federation of Football History and Statistics have been recognizing the Worlds Best Goal Scorers since 1991. The “World’s Best Goal Scorers” list ranks players playing in full international “A” Competitions, the Olympics, continental and intercontinental tournaments of the clubs, FIFA Club Championships and FIFA Team matches. The competitions taken into account, must be sanctioned by FIFA and their affiliated confederations. The 2004 list of the Worlds Best Goal Scorers was released recently with Iran’s Ali Daei claiming first place. Ali Daei reigned at the top of the list with seventeen international goals for his country and club. Daei, playing for IR Iran and Pirouzi out played the likes of Tèvez of Argentina (16 goals) playing for Boca Juniors, Van Nistelroy and 2003 top scorer Thierry Henry. Daei who was crowned AFC Player of the Year in 1999, also won the title of Worlds Best Goal Scorer in 1996. The next Asian players in the 2004 Worlds Best Goal Scorers list is joint top goal scorer at the Asian Cup China 2004, A’ala Hubail from Bahrain at eighth place with thirteen goals. At twelfth place is from Singapore, Indra Shahdan Daud playing for Home United who has scored twelve goals. Other Asians in the top 20 list of the Worlds Best Goal Scorers 2004 are Talal Yousef from Bahrain at number 15 and Do-hoon Kim at number 20 playing for Seongnam Ilhwa FC Chunma with 11 goals.
