BeSoccer.com – LISBON, Sporting Lisbon’s good run, which meant they were leaders, ended on Saturday after they lost 2-3 against Rio Ave. All of Rio Ave’s three goals came from the penalty spot and were all committed by the Uruguayan Sebastian Coates, who was sent off for committing the third one.

The first of them was in the 4th minute after bringing down Taremi and Coates picked up a yellow.

Filipe Augusto scored the first for the visitors which led Sporting to up the pressure and Bruno Fernandes levelled the score after 21 minutes.

After the interval, the game was played at a slower tempo and the home side went in front thanks to a goal by the Brazilian Luiz Phellype.

But things started to go pear shaped for the hosts in the 84th minute when Sporting were thinking about victory after Coates fouled Taremi once again. Rio Ave got another pen and Ronan converted it.

After the equaliser, it became more even, but Coates was penalised once again for a foul on Taremi and the away side were awarded their third penalty. Coates was given his second yellow and his marching orders.

Rio Ave did not pass up the opportunity and Filipe Augusto made it 2-3 in the 91st minute to give Rio Ave a shock win.
