Tasnim – TEHRAN, Alireza Mansourian stepped down as Esteghlal coach following poor results with the team in the domestic League (PGPL).

He announced his resignation after a 1-1 draw with Zob Ahan in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on Wednesday.

Mansourian replaced Parviz Mazloumi in June 2016 and led Esteghlal to finish IPL runner-up in his first season.

Under the guidance of Mansourian, Esteghlal suffered four defeats in seven matches in the new season.

Irish Mick McDermott has been appointed as interim Esteghlal coach.

Esteghlal sits 14th with five points in IPL table.
