Tasnim – DOHA, El Jaish coach Sabri Lamouchi says that Iran is a safe place and he has been surprised by Arab media who reported the country is unsafe.

El Jaish football team will meet Naft Tehran on Tuesday in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium in a repeat of the fixture involving the two teams last season.

“I’m here for the second time and completely surprised when the media asked me about our safety. We have no problem here since we are here to play football not talk about politics,” Lamouchi said in the pre-match news conference.

The Frenchman is confident his team can put on an improved performance and succeed where they failed 12 months ago.

“Our team has changed since last year,” he said. “Although the changes are not very noticeable, we have become a better team.”

“Playing in Iran is difficult. If El Jaish want to seal place in the group stage, they have to win the match. We’ve got to put out a better performance than Naft,” Lamouchi said.
