Persianfootball.com – TEHRAN, Iran remain searching for a friendly opposition for the first FIFA matchday in June, following the cancellation of a planned friendly versus Uzbekistan and Kenya turning down an invitation.

Iran and Uzbekistan had already agreed on playing each other ahead of the Asian World Cup qualifiers in June, but Uzbekistan refused to hold the match in Turkey, where Iran will hold a training camp in early June.

The Iranian football federation then officially invited Kenya to play a match between June 8 and 11, but the Africans are unavailable due to African Cup qualifying on June 12.

Kenya’s offer to send the u-23 team or to postpone the match was turned down by Iran.

Iran will kick off their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign in Turkmenistan on June 16.
