Tasnim – TEHRAN, Former Iran defender Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh has retired on Friday at the age of 42.

Bakhtiarizadeh had spells at Foolad, Esteghlal, Erzurumspor, Saba, Pas and Esteghlal Khuzestan.

He appeared in two of Iran’s games in the 2006 World Cup, starting against Angola and scoring Team Melli’s only goal in the game.

Bakhtiarizadeh made his debut in October 1997 in a World Cup qualifier against Qatar in Tehran.

He made 33 appearances, scoring three goals for the Iranian national football team.
