Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Iranian international Karim Ansarifard has announced that he will not join an Iranian football team this season and wants to continue his career in Europe.

The former Persepolis striker was reportedly close to signing a contract extension with Tractor Sazi, but it has now come out that he has had some European offers.

“I will definitely play in Europe this season. I did not receive an official offer from Persepolis. Some people close to coach Ali Daei contacted, me but he didn’t call me himself,” Ansarifard said in an interview on Iranian television on Thursday.

It’s been rumored that a Russian club is interested in signing the Iranian international.

Ansarifard was on Iran’s 23-man squad, which played in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He was an unused substitute in Iran’s first two matches in the group stages. He played his first World Cup match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, coming in as a substitute for Ashkan Dejagah in the 68th minute.
