TehranTimes, TEHRAN – The Iranian Football Federation (IFF) has agreed to extend Carlos Queiroz’s contract until the end of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

In a session held at the Iran Football Federation headquarters on Friday, two parties agreed to finalize the contract on August 1.

“We have to negotiate about the contract in the details. I wish to stay as Iran coach. The Iranians will always stay in my heart. I like to continue my job but the deal has not yet finalized,” the Portuguese told Fars news agency.

Iran will have to prepare itself for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup, which will be held in Australia from January 9 to 31, 2015.

Under tutelage of Carlos Queiroz, the Iranian outfit played out a goalless draw against Nigeria. The Persians suffered a late 1-0 defeat against Argentina and lost to Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-1 in Group F of the 2014 World Cup.
