MNA – TEHRAN, Iran Under-23 football team was defeated by South Africa on Monday.
Iran, who was held to a 1-1 draw against Poland on Saturday, lost to South Africa 2-0 at the Takhti Stadium.
“We didn’t have some key players in the match; nonetheless, I am satisfied with the way my team played. Iran played against Poland two days ago and didn’t have enough time for recovery, but South Africa was completely ready to face us,” Iran U-23 coach Gholamhossein Peyrovani said.
Iran’s team is gearing up for the 2010 Asian Games which will be held in Guangzhou, China from November 7 to December 25, 2010.
Iran has been drawn in Group B along with Vietnam, Bahrain and Turkmenistan.
