PFDC - PAMPLONA, Osasuna midfielder Javad Nekounam believes he can get more goals for his team following a sub-par start of the season in the Spanish league.

Nekounam who scored his second goal of the season and the winner against Zaragoza told Iranian football news agency that he is aiming to increase his tally to more than five goals.

"I had not scored in La Liga for quite a while and it was about the time. I am glad for being able to help my team once again.

"There's nothing more enjoyable than scoring goals and I am targeting to score more than five goals in this season, although there is more emphasis on my defensive tasks.

"We are in a better situation compared to last year when we were fighting against relegation and I personally play more comfortable.

"Defeating Zaragoza at their home, was not an easy task.  We dominated them throughout the match and even had opportunities to score more goals. We badly needed this win after the home loss against Valencia."

Meanwhile his compatriot Masoud who also showed a solid performance on Sunday, dreams of Osasuna playing in Europe in the next season.

"I was very motivated for this match and I always like to be in the starting line-up.

"We were quite unlucky not to score from our early chances in the match.

"I knew that 'Neko' would position himself in their defensive line's blind spot, but I couldn't see him. Before crossing the ball, I realized there were three Osasuna players free in the penalty box and fortunately Javad scored the goal. He would never miss such opportunities.

"This was an important win for us. Before this match were were equal in points with Zaragoza.

"Many believed that we will end up struggling like the last season, but this win has changed the views and proved that we have a different team in this season.

"We have to maintain this position till mid-season and then try to compete for higher ranks in the second half of the season.

"I would really like to experience playing in European competitions with Osasuna. I believe that Osasuna has the potential of gaining one of the qualification spots."
