Lessons learned from Arie Haan!
Haan's work has sent a clear message to Iranian football fans at this critical time. His coaching team has been with Perspolis for 2 month, working EVERYDAY, and is still taking time to fix the problems.
What do we learn here?
-Those who were advocating that we should change Branko to improve, can clearly see how long would take for anybody to come in, learn about the team, work with them via trial and error, and eventually change for better heading to a major competition. Since last summer, our foreign based players have had 2-3 chances of 2-3 days to be released from their club (regardless of how many friendlies IFF "could" get us to play), and they will have another 2-3 weeks or so before joining this team about 2-3 weeks before the WC! IPL's condensed schedule is "just" finished while Hazfi cup is still in Qtr final stage and we are almost entering May!!! Just about one month and some away from the most difficult competition; THE WORLD cup!
Was there enough time to change the coach with his great track record for "super coavich" and "alberto ferguson"? don't have to be stubborn about it, just watch Haan in action. You'll find your answers within his framework.
That is all we have been saying from last year: In one hand you have a coach with capability and great record (the reality), on the other hand you have NO time,(and yes, there was no time since last summer as we could see this lack of "real" time to practice the whole team together throughout these condensed schedules) to bring in a supercoavich to change the team to his system to "maybe" succeed or do "better" (hypothesis).
I took the first option since last year ....

I have said it many many many.....times and I say it again. Branco must go. some of our players must change BUT NOT NOW!! its tpp late. I said after the bahrain game and that was a good time for this. It would have given the new players and coaches 1 year to adapt but as for now whatever we have THATS WHAT WE HAVE

very true, you took the words out of my mouth
well said, it's late now, but the first thing we should do
RIGHT AFTER the world cup is to give Branko
A KICK IN THE ASS.
we can bring a new coach, and the Asian Qualification games will
give the new coach plenty of time to adapt to our team and our players.

points are well taken.
Problem is :
branko single handedly killed the soul of competition for tm jersey and has clearly and in action shown that the better one will not get the call! nor a chance to sweat it out in the jersey...
injoori ke tm dorost nemeekonan!
now it boils down in choosing the bad (keeping branco because it is too lil time left) vs worst ( Kicking him out for any reason this late in the game)decision.
On that I agree with you that we should keep Branco but I am all prepared for an embarassing show up in Germany!

thankyou mansoor jan, u used a perfect example to prove wat some of us have been saying here! But instead, we are accused of preferring branko to TM as if he is some God or messenger that we are following or we are some relative of his that are helping him secure his seat in TM with 2 hands!
if some like arie han, who many people here are worshipping him, is having such a hard time adapting to just 23 players and 1 clubs management and an IFF who will go to any extent to support his team, imagine wat a national coach has to go through to adapt to all players from all the teams in the league! he has to get used to different rules and authorities because his responsiblity is on a much broader scale, on a national scale, not just a club!
all the media, all the critics, all the world will be focussing on him! but half the world havent even heard of perspolis fc!
arie han has the luxury of training with his players 7 days a week throughout the year, branko has wat, max 3 months in total throughout a year to train and coordinate all his players from around the world! he has no time to teach every single detail to TM players, some things should be learnt at club level, and looking at IPL, we shouldnt expect much, although i must say, im very pleased to see lots of improvement, specially in the passing and speed of games in IPL this year!khoda ro shokr!
arie han doesnt have to face problems with international sanctions and "axis of evil crap". he doesnt have to face with playing friendlies with big teams, if perspolis management can get him, he should thank his stars, but branko doesnt have all this luck! branko is working on a national scale and has to develop international relationships for a country who is not very liked throughout the world! and when there is not much moeny invovled, there is no incentive for other countries to risk their status by playing a country like iran unless they are really forced to or are having an incredible offer which is not expectable of iran!
some might argue, haan's choice is limited, he has to choose from 23 players while branko has 16 teams to choose from. but wat many fail to notice is that this same luxury can be a burden! when han has to choose from 23 players, he basically has 2 candidates on average per post. so if one doesnt perform well, he can choose the other, and basically this limits criticisms on him! but branko, if a plyer doenst perform, or even if he does, there are still people who claim, x,y,z, should be used cos they are better and because branko doesnt realize this, he is a 3rd rated assisstant inexperienced conservative lajbaz coach!
bringing a completely new coach, and expect him to adapt himself to iranian culture, media, players, mentality, way of life, and then on top of that, OBSERVE & TEST ALL THESE DIFFERENT PLAYERS AND STARTEGIES IN THESE "NUMEROUS" FRIENDLIES WE HAVE BEEN HAVING ALL THIS WHILE!
hmm, if only those coaches and experts could learn football from the real football experts - US!

Caoching for a club versus the national team has a many differences. I can't say which one is better or worse.
As far as Haan is concerned , I seriousely doubted that he will weild his magic wand at Perspolis and everything will turn around. He needs time to evaluate his options. If he did not change some, or most of the current PP squad , then there is a big question mark on PP as a club. I said from day one that PP is a club that needs quality players not the like of Alizadeh or Madanchi ( with all due respect to both).
Anyway , in Branko''s case , he had lots and lots of time to evaluate hundreds of players for Yeam Melli. Unfortunately , he kept it very tight on selection. Although he has the best players Iran can offer on the squad , he has not been very adventrous in getting many players playing time. It remains to be seen if his policy will yield result or not.
