    Calcio News: Alireza Faghani 1 of 2 possible referees to officiate World Cup Final

    He is one of the two referees to be decided for World Cup final. Let's hope he gets it - what an achievement that will be.

                  Isn't he retiring after this worldcup? Wouldn't be surprised if he does referee it and he is being given this as a send off by Fifa.

                      No, I read an interview with him where he said he had sarcastically responded to critics that had said he should retire by saying yes he will retire and everyone quoted him on that as if he was serious. In at least two recent interviews he has said that he has no intention to retire now even if he referees the WC Final.
